The Villages of maritime cultures and heritages

All hands on deck!

Let your curiosity and senses wander.

In July 2012 you have an appointment with a universal and popular gathering dedicated to maritime cultures. MexicoIndonesiaMoroccoRussia et Norway will be the guest nations of honour, and their fleets of large and small traditional boats will be represented in force.

Savour the dishes and spirit of these guest countries at the heart of the villages animated by the sound of exotic instruments in the warmth of multifarious moods.
Each village will have the place of honour on a particular day dedicated to it.
Theguest crews are key players of the event, and are all true "volunteers" who come for the pleasure of meeting one another and sharing a wonderful, intense and festive nautical experience.
Beside these foreign delegations, the twin towns of Brest, as well as boats and sailors from the French Caribbean will be of the party.

2012 will obviously be the ideal opportunity, for the 20th anniversary, to make a symbolic detour, full of emotions, via the cultures and nations that were celebrated during pastinternational maritime festivals. Around the Chasse Marée area, a 20 year Village will recall all its memories as experienced by some of the delegates from Brazil, Ethiopia, Vietnam or even Madagascar...

The Lands and Seas of Brittany village, run jointly by the chamber of agriculture and the fishing committee, will add its touch of authenticity and gastronomy. One village will welcome children to awaken their curiosity about maritime riches and offer them, in one place, events from the four corners of the maritime festival. The ice floes of the far North will have the place of honour in a spectacular village of Arctic cultures.
Finally, the French Navy, the Merchant Navy, the port services, the SNSM and the professional fisherman will be omnipresent and provide the only maritime authenticity worth its salt: that of sailors and seafarers!
