The 6th edition will be celebrating its 20th anniversary for one week in the company of five guest countries: Indonesia, Morocco, Mexico, Norway and Russia. There were no fewer than 1,500 boats, 15,000 sailors and 650,000 visitors in 2008: Tonnerres de Brest 2012 certainly intends to welcome crowds of people.
This will be an opportunity for Ouest-France to demonstrate its involvement in the world of the sea and sailing. A historic partner of the adventure since 1992, the newspaper covers maritime matters all year long, in all its editions, from Cherbourg to Sables d’Olonne, from Conquet to Guilvinec, not forgetting all Brittany's ports from north to south. Finistère has no fewer than 1,250 kilometres of coastline. The journalists, specialists in sailing, and those from the department's editorial branches, will offer their readers an account of life on board an icebreaker, a visit of the gangways of the all-purpose frigate Aquitaine, or even a sea outing on the Russian sailing ship Sedov. The festival, a popular coming-together of the public and sailors, makes everyone dream of ocean journeys.
For France's leading daily paper, with a daily circulation of 785,000, and nearly 10 million connections per month on ouest-france.fr, this event is an exciting moment. A supplement, dedicated pages, reports, portraits, a special feature on its web site, videos, the editorial teams will be on deck to announce, write up and interpret the event. The Ouest-France ship will anchor in the harbour of the Tonnerre de Brest.
