From 13 to 19 July 2012, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this incomparable maritime event, Les Tonnerres de Brest 2012 will shake the quays and ripple the harbour of this ocean town, embellished by the finest flotillas of the world's maritime heritage.
Les Tonnerres deBrest 2012will be particularly true to their founding principles: a festival of sailors, put on by sailors, for anyone who wants to discover and better understand the seafaring fraternity.
But this edition will have a special flavour, since it will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the event conceived in 1992 by the "Le Chasse Marée" magazine.
On the occasion of this anniversary, Les Tonnerres deBrest 2012 will relive the great moments of the previous editions. A moving tribute will be paid to the women and men who initiated this festival and have built it up. We will be welcoming the guest countries that marked the 5 previous editions, gathered together around the Chasse Marée in a village that promises to be particularly festive.

From the open boat to the majestic three master, from the tug to the liner, from the world of science to that of the arts and from the foam to the barnacles, all the sailors will congregate at the port and on the quays of Brest for an intense moment of togetherness, discovery and dialogue, in a festive atmosphere and in the best tradition of seafarers.
